Name the whole thing

Before anything gets decided, be clear about what — and who — the decisions cover. The place, the people who decide, and the money you can draw on. The land and assets themselves get a full chapter of their own (06 · eight forms of capital).

Clarify your values first

A short clarification exercise before you write anything. Pick the values that tug at you, then rate each on three quick scales: how satisfied it is today, how concerned you'd be if it shrank, and how much happier you'd be if it grew. Losing ground + gaining ground together reveal what a value is really worth to you.

03 · quality of life

How do you want life here to feel?

Write it in the present tense, as if it's already true — short statements, one at a time. This is the part of the document everything else answers to, so say what you actually want, not what sounds sensible. Four to seven statements is plenty.

Not just crops. Profit from somewhere. Time off. Learning. Habitat. Add each one, then tie it to the statements it makes possible — every statement from chapter 03 needs at least one thing producing it, or it's a wish, not a plan.

05 · future resource base

Describe what has to hold, decades out

For those forms of production to keep coming, the resource base under them has to keep getting better — the land, how people see you, and the community around you. Describe each as it must be far into the future. Present tense again; write the destination, not the route.

Your resource base is more than money and machines. Walk the eight forms one by one and log what you actually hold — with a quantity where one exists, and whether it's building or drawing down. This becomes your asset ledger.
